[ROVERNET - UK] P6 2200 - inertia reel seatbelts

All P6's from start to end of production have threaded mountings already
built into the base unit. Remove the rear seat bases-one on each side going
into the sill and one tucked under the centre armrest. The rear parcel shelf
ones are different according to year-early cars (Up to around 1971) have the
mounting very near to the seat back to cater for static belts. After about
1971, they were moved further back to cater for inertia reel mountings.
A couple of cautions though-if you want to fit inertia reels, you will need
one inch spacers (Box section steel) and long bolts so that the belt clears
the seat back-without these, the belts will catch and/or false-lock almost
constantly. The other caution is that all the threaded mountings might not
be there at all! It seems that Rover really did have off days when these
cars were built-out of the four P6's I have fitted rear belts to, one had no
captive nuts in the inner sills at all(Although the holes were there) and
the other had the captive nuts, but they had never been internally
threaded!! I know these things can be easily sorted, but it's VERY
frustrating when you want to do the job quickly and efficiently !!
Hope this helps.
Kind Regards
John
