[ROVERNET - UK] 3500s a/c water valve question

Hello all.

I've found that the a/c water valve on my 3500s is faulty, pouring
coolant out of the system at a rapid pace. The a/c condenser had been
removed previously, so there is no functioning a/c in the car. Does the
water valve have any other purpose (i.e. heating), or can I bypass it?
What does the capillary (temp sensor?) at the back of the valve lead
to?

Thanks,

peter
