Hi all
High intensity LED's get their "brightness" by confining their lumen
output into a very narrow cone. This is why you always see them in an
array, not singlarly.
The end of the LED is a lens that does just this. To get a worthwhile
side spread, you will need to mount the LED's of the array on a
spherical or curved surface, so the outer LED's are actually angled off
axis.
