Aaah, the joys of restoration when the wife is away for a two week break.
Next door (indian) neighbour came in to see if I wanted to have dinner 
with them and, sniffing the air, said: "That's interesting, perhaps you 
don't need to come over.  What's cooking?"
"A rare dish," says I.
"Baked bracket of luggage racks, a la 1935 Rover 10."
Oven is a very efficient baker of enamel, and chassis black smells quite 
sweet at in a low oven for a couple of hours!
