[ROVERNET - UK] riddle me this-sudden 3500s road noise

Hi Peter
           I'd check the plate that bolts to the rear of the diff. I believe
Rover used the same plate on the V8 as used on the 4cyl,  but the extra
power stresses the bolts and the holes wear oval allowing movement. I have
come across this problem a couple of time. Good luck
