Ray,
  I've had occasion when the gauge used to read in the 0-30 range but
started reading in the 30-60 range.  I put it down to an electrical
gremlin.  Eventually it reverted itself back to the 0-30 range.  Similar
thing happened with the temperature gauge at different time.  I used to
sit just on the green, then one day it was just past the green & the
engine didn't feel any hotter.  One day it eventually reverted.
