The bad news is diesels produce the two most volatile carcinogens known to
us, and lots of VOCs.
Their particulates are Very fine and noted for reducing lung function in
those exposed to it (mostly other motorists behind them, sucking the air
in).

At least I can smile when I pass all those fuel eating
monstrosities they call SUVs on my motorcycle. You can
just about see those dollars floating out of those
tail pipes while they are stuck in traffic and I ride
down the center line between the cars. :-). I may also
be paying the $3 a gallon US, but only $14 at a time.
Time to trade in the two cars for diesels that get 45
mpgs. Also Canada produces a converter for using CNG
in the home and Honda produces a CNG Civic, looks
promising.
