Not many Yugos sold in the USA.
It's simply a matter of time before China becomes a major auto
manufacturer. The quality will be there, if not at first, then later.
Hyundai was laughed at early on, but they are taken very seriously, now,
and their cars get better all the time. The only snag I see with China
would be if they don't fully open up their home market to other brands.
The balance of trade, however, will again be in their favor since few of
our cars will be bought in China and many of theirs will sell over here.
I am not a big fan of Chinese business practices regarding intellectual
property rights, labor laws in general and even the use of what amounts
to "slave" labor and prison inmate labor. However, in the USA,
practically everything you pick up in a store is made in China,
regardless of the brand name. If you decide to boycott Chinese goods,
you are in for a tough time. I can't imagine them NOT selling a tons of
automobiles over here unless there are major political and trade issues.
