Hi Roverists:

For 35 years I have assumed that the "dancing speedometer needle" was
something that one had to live with. Then I disassembled the angle
drive which is behind the speedo unit. I cleaned out the assembly and
lubed the unit with a product made by a company called "Primis". It's
a lubricating gel. We purchased the product at our local Wal-Mart for
under $2.00. I reassembled the angle drive, drilling a two holes
across from each other, then placing a half piece of a cotter pin,
bending each end down, to keep the disc from coming out. Then I
applied epoxy to both discs to insure that they stayed into position.
After a couple of days I installed the angle drive and road tested.
To my amazement the needle was study in it's upward and downward
movement! So there is a Rover God!
