Hi Bill,

I have always used L92YC in the original 3.5 engine. I am sure there was a
technical bulletin for Rover dealers. BP5HS is the crossover NGK part number
which should be fine. Bosch is a good option as they have anti seize thread
suitable for alloy heads.

Subject: [ROVERNET - UK] 3500S spark plugs

I've been checking for my friend ..........he has a 71 3500S with SU
carbs........I've checked the book and it originally called for Champion
L87Y plugs..............He checked around and got RL87YC..............He
was told they are the same...........He also said they list NGK plugs in
BP5HS for this car but when i checked on the NGK website and cross
referenced the original Champion L87Y it lists NGK BP6HS as its
equivalent.............What are any of you using and are the Champions he
got the same as original..................I tried to check with Federal
Mogul who now owns Champion but they haven't got back to
me.................Also he wants to put Pertronix ignition
in.............Anyone know what unit fits...........

Thanks
Bill Robertson
