I'd rub the roof, somewhere horizontal.
It isn't a case of durable paint; they just aren't a water barrier (topcoat is) and high humidity will push water in to the paint.

I'm going to sand down some of the primer to bare
metal as he suggested and see what the metal looks
like. I'm hoping for the best as the primer used seems
very durable. Wish me luck.
