To all who responded to my inquiry concerning the run on problem. Thank you.

I suspect that it is indeed a carbon build up and the carbs need rebuilding.

I will take her on a brisk run to Portland this weekend. Looking forward to
meeting some other rover folks. Larry

Dear friends,

as you know I'm restoring the car, and on Saturnday the
coachbuilder should dismantle the windshield and the rear window.

I saw on the manual that the system to put in place these glasses is
quite different from normal ones.

This is the question: in these cases, according to your experience, is
there a seal you are compelled to change , or if in good conditioons
they can be used again?

My seals are very good and were probably changed the last time the car
was painted by the previous owner.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Best regards, Gianluca.

I think the gent who owned my car from new re-used the seals when he
restored the car.

The seals are reuseable if they are in good condition. make sure to
clean any old sealing compound from the seal before you reinstall.

Dear Vern,

which kind of sealing compound do you use to install and re -
install them?

Thanks, best regards, Gianluca.

A question best answered by a glass shop. It has
been a long time since I've done a window, so
best practices have probably changed.

Gianluca,
There are three seals involved in replacing the front windscreen. I
haven't done the rear but I suspect it is similar. All can be reused if
they are in good condition.

1. The thick rubber seal you can see from the outside. Reuse this one.
At least roughly clean out the old sealant from the inside and outside.
I'd recommend a volumous, non-setting sealant. I've use silicon, and it
works but if you ever have to get it out again it's really hard to get
off.

2. There a foam strip that is glued to the body just behind the dash
pad. The original is fairly soft stuff and disintegrates on removal.
Scott's sells a more solid replacement. However I found if you don't
get it in the right place the bottom of the screen rides high and the
valance is difficult to fit. A test fitting is probably worth while.

3. The screen is support by a long metal channel. This channel should
be lined with a semi viscous rubber. Scott's sells a strip of this. It
is often perished into dry chunks. It's there to protect the bottom of
the screen from cracking.

The windscreen is quite easy to get in and out so a test fit without
sealant (and the lower seal just tacked on) is helpful.

Greetings, Rovernet--

I came across this "collection of P6 films" on
e-bay and wondered if anyone had seen the original
footage? The DVD is probably PAL format, Region 2 as
it's being sold in the UK. US rovernetters would need
a multi-region DVD player to view it. The DVD sounds
interesting, but I think I'm going to save my money
for P6 parts at the moment...

Hi Roverists:

Don't know of any major car manufacturer that can afford to buy either
company, there all in trouble.

I'll bet that the Chinese are "licking their chops" over this one! The
company that bought the car end of Rover would be "sitting pretty" if
they could latch onto Land Rover.

As for Jaguar, I don't have any idea who will buy them? Maybe the
other major Chinese car manufacturer?

>From a North American view, it appears that the British government and
Labor Unions have turned British car manufacturing into a socialist
enterprise. With the workers being guaranteed employment regardless
of their product quality. Also, small low volume companies such as
Morgan or Aston Martin seem to trudge on.
