[ROVERNET - UK] SD1 (Vitesse) - Manual Gearbox Vibrations onSwitching & Replacement of Engine f+r Oil Seals?

There may be a groove worn into the sealing surface of the 
crank damper in which case a new front seal by itself will 
not stop the leak. Check the wear surface for a groove. 
 If one is present, you must fit a repair sleeve to the 
damper before installing the new seal.  If you can't get a 
sleeve for a Rover, use one for a '62-'87 Buick V-6.  It 
must be positioned at the point of wear and should be 
locked in place with Locktite Stud and Bearing Mount or 
similar.  If not locked in place, it will "walk" away from 
the contact spot since it is not really long enough to 
cover the whole surface.
