[ROVERNET - UK] Laine's P4

Dirk Burrowes dirk at vy-tek.com

Hi Laine, I think your P4 is JUST GREAT. Forget all the comments about other
models your auntie is a lovely and graceful car and you should be proud to
own her.

The first thing to do is to go and get a copy of James Taylor's book
"Rover P4 The Complete Story" You will learn allot from the book and love
your car even more when you read about the P4

Next and in order

1) Rebuild the carburetor (Ruth can get you a kit and you can do it on a
Saturday)
2) Rebuild the front and rear brake cylinders and replace the pads. (Again
Ruth can help) A Saturday for each axle.
3) Drain the coolant and replace with distilled water (don't forget to add
antifreeze this fall)
4) Flush gas tank and change /clean gas filters
5) Change engine oil, change plugs, set points. (Order a Pertronix
electronic ignition)
6) (Optional) Rebuild clutch slave cylinder
7) Enjoy car drive frequently and attend Rovernet School regularly
8) Start giving advice to newbies

My considerable experience with Rovers coming out of hiding I have found
without exception this to be what needs to be done 9 times out of ten and
what should be done first so that you know what you have and can enjoy your
car sooner rather then later.

It really does look like a nice car!

Dirk

Oh, the RSTCA tours a little bit, now and then! You need to get all
those Michigan Rovers together for a ride. It's a grassroots, bottoms up
(?) organization. RSTCA.com DID lead you to the Rovernet sign-up page
and change your life, didn't it?

;-)

Actually, I had a 1991 Escort GT with a 5-speed and the little DOHC
engine. I enjoyed the heck out of it, but my kidneys couldn't take the
beating on a couple stretches of I-95 that I had to drive twice a day!

Well, it's flickr.com, to begin with, but there ain't no twinklsun
there. Maybe Laine isn't a real person? She lives in the Matrix or
something...

Better send us a link, Laine!

I know that the commute to college would have been a lot harder
to make in our old pick-up. John's parents decided their little
Escort wagon wasnt generic enough and upgraded to a gold Buick
(you've probably seen it). They offered it to me. Mother in laws
are good for something after all.

Laine, That is a pretty nice car. I wish that I would find one in that

Hi Laine
Nice vehicle ...
Is the motor the 2.5 petrol?
Looks just like a series 1 Land Rover engine!
