That's pretty much the reason why:
1.  People can't subscribe to the Rovernet in the
first place (server doesn't want to know HTML)
2.  People can read Rovernet messages but can't post
or see their own messages.

It's all in the cause of security for the good folks
who join the Rovernet and don't want trouble.  :-)
