[ROVERNET - UK] Passing Gear

Hi A Gearbox specialist down the road from me gave me a simple but very
effective way for setting up kick-down cables on BW 35 boxes. You have
the fully warmed up (at least 15-20 Km drive) Drive down a level road &
roll to a stop. The box should drop into first just before the car
stops. He said the this is so close that no further adjustments are
needed.Loosen to drop the KD point & shorten to raise.
Make sure that the cable is connected. He cable changes the pressure in
the gearbox giving the variation in change up speed and selection of the
bands. If it is not then the gearbox is running at low hydraulic pressure
all the time i.e changing up to top by 25-30mph.This is NOT GOOD as
under load the bands will slip and wear quickly.
