[ROVERNET - UK] P6 master cylinder=Jaguar e type ??

I did not mean that the E-Type and P6B master cylinder did not have
the same basic casting, but the machining was not identical. It is the
similarity which causes people to think they can repair the P6B dual
line cylinder using an E-type repair kit and then find they can't so
they have to come to me and buy the correct kit (usually for less than
they bought the E-type kit) and ultimately pay twice over for the
overhaul kit.
I can't say what Volvos may have used, but I personally am not aware
that they used a cylinder similar to the P6B one.
Regards,
Pierre Janusz.

I seem to recall an older Volvo that had a match to the P6B master
cyl... as well.
I'm sure there are other cars with the exact casting ...it would not be
feasable to produce so few of this unique to Rover only...

The E-type and P6B do NOT have the same master cylinder. They are
similar but not the same and have different part numbers. If you want
the correct cylinder it is essential to check that the supplier knows
what they are talking about; many do not.

Hi
Glen has set the E type and P6 mastercylinder hare running. The Girling
part nos are the same for both mastercylinders with air valves . The
only difference I can see is the brake pipe connections .
Is Glen correct , does Girling have the same part numbers for two
different items ? Is the air valve spec critical to the servo operation
?? Will Darth Vader trip and fall over R2D2 ??
Cheers
Patrick
