[ROVERNET - UK] P6 master cylinder=Jaguar e type ??

Patrick,

Are you looking for an off the shelf master cylinder that can be
overnighted to you? You're just buying trouble if you start
substituting and adapting Jaguar parts. P6 master cylinder cores are not
that hard to come buy. Someone on the Rovernet can supply a core, and
Dermot suggested that he could have one resleeved by Apple Hydraulics.
Ruth may have one sitting on the shelf at ABC in Vancouver? Have you
spoken with her? Pierre may be able to source you one in the UK. Even if
Pierre ships one across the ocean to you, you will probably save time,
money, and frustration compared to substituting a Jaguar MC that doesn't
match the Rover design specs. The P6 braking system is just too finicky
to just start throwing non-Rover parts at it. You'll be pulling your
hair out and banging your head against the wall for weeks and probably
end up with Rover-spec parts in the end, anway. If this car were an MGB
or a '57 Chevy, you would have lots of options, and we would have heard
about them all on the Rovernet. In ten years or more of reading Rovernet
messages, I can't recall a single instance where anyone resolved their
P6 brake problems in any other manner than by obtaining the proper parts
and adjusting them per factory specs.

There aren't a lot of Jaguars out there with Rover master cylinders in
them The reverse is also true, and the reason is the same in both cases.
