Here is 1970 Rover 3500S that should be original but a look under the bonnet
will be necessary.

Looks very complete, needs boot lid emblem, which are available. In W Virginia, salt is used on the roads, so a good search for rust will be essential.

Hi all, since selling off the P5, I still have some stuff left over and before I hit ebay with it all, I thought I'd offer them here first.

9 Baldwin oil filters.

Aluminum "Snail Shell", links muffler air cleaner to oil bath housing.

Folding air pump, fits on trunk board.

Please make offers as I don't know what these are worth, plus add some for shipping. If I come across more, I'll post. Thanks.

roland, Roverless.

All, forgot to mention I have a differential for an 1966(?) auto trans P5 I was going to install in my 4 speed to lower the gear ratio and make it more pleasant on the freeways. I forget the ratio. I bought it from Chris awhile back, too heavy to ship, maybe relay it somehow? How about $100?

Hi Roland
I'd be interested in the Baldwin oil filters, I believe they fit both P5 and P4. I'd like to take 4- 6 or all if no one else asks.
                                    Cheers Ben

One of the recent points of discussion on the Rover Car Club of
Australia discussion group was the performance figures of our older
Rovers, both compared with different Rover models from different
periods and also compared to other contemporary makes.

This discussion prompted one of our discussion group members to do
some research, consulting published performance data from road tests
of the period and tabulating them to form some meaningful results.

The review is titled "Rover Perception & Facts" and includes objective
comparative data for Rover P4, P5, P5B, P6 and P6B.

The article (in pdf format) can be downloaded from the Club web site.
Let the debate continue.

Folks, the oil filters have been spoken for, sorry, wish I had more to sell. I believe I found a good factory jack for the Rover. It's the typical twin legged, crank type that fits into the body hole. I'll double check today if it's working. I believe I had one bad one with stripped threads. Hope it's not this one.

I have a Rover shift knob, never installed in the box.

I believe I have a tool set for a P6, in a pouch. Pretty sure it's complete. Will look for it today.

roland, clearing out the garage.

FWIW, oil filters for the P5 are available (like most other engine
parts) from Rovers North in Vermont. Just tell them that you are buying
it for your 2.6L NADA gasoline Land Rover and they'll know what you need.

Geez, I'm making a mess of this. Guess that what happens when I get up at the same time I did for the last 7 months on daylight savings time and then post things on the internet.

The shift knob is a leather aftermarket item with the Rover logo on it. Made in the USA by Kingsborne Products., San Marcos CA. I don't know if I can attach a photo here, but if anyone wants one of it, I will be happy to provide it. Thanks.

Hi all, just found the P6 tool kit. It is complete and almost unused condition. It's not perfect as in new, but in pretty darn good original condition. I can take pictures if needed. All three wrenches made by "Super Slim" are in very good condition, with only one appearing ever used. The spark plug socket and lever bar look unused as does the tire gauge with the Rover emblem. The screwdriver, made by "Alfrid", has been used and has some chrome peeled at the very tip. The pliers are made by "G. Plumpton", looks new as does the small adjustable wrench made by "King Dick". Even the pouch is in good to excellent condition, even the string.

I don't know what this is worth and I listed the makers of the tools so you can verify they are the proper ones for the car. I know it sounds like a sales pitch, but I'm pretty amazed by the condition, really.

I've found a lug wrench for a P5, the one that looks a bit like a starting handle.

I've also found 2 starting handles, a shorter one with a spinning handle on the end and a longer one.

The jack I found doesn't feel too good, maybe the gears aren't meshing properly, but it did seem to be able to lift the back of my truck a bit.

I have 5 speedo cables, but don't know what they fit. 3 are 63" long and two are 48" long. Appear unused, but dingy from storage.

A generator of unknown origin or funtion, but I believe it came with my P5.

Starter, unknown fit or condition . Maybe there's a part number for matching up?

I don't know what these items are worth, so offers are appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi all, there has been interest in the P6 tool roll kit. I had contacted one of the P6 suppliers on what they go for. He told me he does not have a complete kit, but one that is 75% complete and he wants 45GBP which google translates to $71, plus he wanted VAT (n/a here) and shipping. Hope that clears things up. Offers?

I might be interested, as my tool kit is somewhat deteriorated. Is it in USA?

This is certainly a very good looking car. However, it does seem to have
quite a few inconsistencies. The author says it is a 3500S but it is
Automatic, it has a NADA bonnet (Hood) but is Right hand Drive. I've not
seen the chrome 'Automatic' lettering under the V8 badge on the back
(maybe a US thing) and it doesn't seen to have the roof mounted aerial.
It took some doing but it appears from the website, it is based in
Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. Does anyone have any figures on
(or if) these cars were exported to the Caribbean from the UK?

Cheers,

Looking at the 3500S... says it's a '68... were the V8s produced that early?
It has had things added like the Rover emblem in the grill and the mesh in
the center scoop, which did not come on that hood. The grill is Series II
much later than '68. The wire wheels are not OE and they look like 15".
The bumpers look Euro and not NADA. They did export P6s to 'the islands'...
I had for a short while a RHD 2000TC that came from somewhere in the
Caribbean. NADA cars did not say 'automatic' if mine is the norm. Good to
see it on the road and taken care of... but not my taste.

I tend to agree this car has had a quite a few changes , but looks nice to me :) ... The 3500S only came to the NADA market as an automatic in the early years as far as I know and the home market comparison was the 3500...no S and was indeed standard tranny.

Hi Folks
Any one had their P4 exhaust manifold carbon coated (ceramic etc) and if so did it lower the heat in engine compartment, are there any other benefits etc. Would appreciate any advice, warnings etc.

Hey Ben

I looked into it for my 2000tc and decided against it.

It does lower engine bay temps but it holds extra heat into the manifold. I had heard this can make the manifold brittle and shorten its life.

Knowing that TC manifolds can crack with age and vibration I didn't want to risk it.

Just my pennithworth.

Best,

Steven

I had the manifolds on my P3 and P5B ceramic coated and importantly they look real fine!

At the performance level of these vehicles I doubt it makes much difference, but decreasing engine compartment heat levels in the P5B might improve the longevity of other heat sensitive components, rubber/wiring etc.

Still, I have done lots of things for looks alone! Vanity, Vanity, all is vanity.

Cheers Gianni

Hi all, hope everyone had a good Thanks Giving. I still have some Rover parts left, but will be going on Ebay soon. The tool kit has been spoken for. Still have the factory jack, two engine crank handles, one lug wrench, 5 speedo cables of unknown origin, the Rover aftermarket leather shift knob and the snail shell for the oil bath air cleaner to the air inlet muffler. Thanks.

Vanity is fine in small doses, have you considered seeing anyone about it? :)
I used to paint mine with gloss tyre black, smelt a bit at first, but they used to
bake into a new looking manifold. Stayed that way for a long time.

Thankyou,

Scott.

Hello,

I'm looking for a complete set of plain old wheels for my P5. The ones
that came with it are older (possibly from a P4) and two are bent
irreparably, making tire balancing impossible. I'd like five, but would be
willing to piece together a set.

Thanks to Lance for the cool article. I've seen pictures of that poor TC
languishing up there, so I'm glad someone's paying attention to it.

Gordon.

The link does't work, and there does't appear to be any such ad on the Dallas Craigslist site.

Why did this go out today? I wasted alot of time looking for this listing and now I see
the original message was sent back in July. Am I reading this correctly? or did the car get sold today?
Thanks
Rob
