While this is a question specific to my P5, the answer could apply to all cars. What I need to know is what is the best way to replace door seal rubber. When I bought the P5, it came with replacement seals and now it's time to get the butt in gear and fit them - the "how to" though, I don't know. I had half a can of this exast paint until November that was mixed locally by ProFinishesPlus (formerly Mattos -- a chain which changed hands in this area about five years ago). A single quart with hardener and reducer ran me about $55 (the acrylic enamel paint itself was about half that amount). They also sell an aerosol spray unit and bottle that may be used with mixed paint (for about $5). I used this method to paint my own Persian Aqua car's roof which, like that on most SD1's, had worn/flaked off. It turned out very well, as far as I was concerned. The color matched perfectly and, yes, I sold the car soon after and included the can of touch-up paint. The new owner was planning to paint the whole thing someday soon, though, and probably wouldn't have objected if I'd kept it for you. As you can see on the decal under the hood/bonnet of your car the paint code is BLVC241 -- Persian Aqua Metallic -- which corresponds to DuPont code H7849 (we found this in some of their old hard copy books, didn't seem to be online). I'd verify this information if I were you, since the can itself is gone and I'm going from my notes. Otherwise, yes, you can take the fuel flap or some other unfaded example of the original paint and they'll use something like a spectroscope (actually, a spectrophotometer) to match it, too. However, going by the paintl code seemed to make the most sense in this case. [If you do a Google search for the DuPont code, you'll find an interesting Canadian site for Smiths speedometer cables that also lists all these paint codes -- I just found that myself, lots of info. on the web now. And, as you probably know, the TR8 used the same color so their owners have an interest in maintaining availability.] I still have a quart of Turmeric Yellow, along with an SD1 of that same color. And, as you probably know, the TR8 used the same color so their owners have an interest in maintaining availability.] I still have a quart of Turmeric Yellow, along with an SD1 of that same color. I'll be touching it up a little later today. Here in Australia I was recently able to get touch-up spray for my SD1 (series 2). The paint shop entered the code - HMW - into their computer and it came up with the correct name - Opaline - and recognised it as a metallic colour too. The particular custom can system is called U-POL, from the UK. The colour is spot-on. I'd be a little wary of taking the fuel gate in for matching. I've had this done before and ended up with a dodgy match.
