Welcome to the inaugural issue of Roverphiles - the newsletter of RoverAmerica and the goings-on in the Rover world. Right from the start I need to confess. First I have been meaning to do this for some time and life just has got away from me and then procrastination set in. Second I requisitioned the name “Roverphiles” from James Taylor’s Rover enthusiast magazine as I felt it fit this effort so well.

So here it is the hopefully more then once newsletter for the terminally afflicted Rover enthusiasts. While we are off to a humble start I am hoping that many of you will be willing to contribute ideas, stories, pictures, and anything else Rover related for all to share. So get thinking, writing, or snapping pictures of your pride and joy, and have them included here for the Rover world to see!

So here is how this works. This email contains links to the various articles and stories below and are “Philed” on the RoverAmerica website as Adobe Acrobat files. So you do not have to down load anything other than Acrobat Reader if you do not already have this. Go here if you need to download a free copy:  http://get.adobe.com/reader/ We will keep these Philes on our server for you to view anytime. Please feel free to pass on these links to whomever you feel might enjoy them.

Announcing RoveAmerica 09 held June 12th to 14th

So this marks our third consecutive year of the event and I have to say it has just gotten better and better. We now can officially say it is an annual event! Last year marked our first year that we attracted international guests and this year we expect to have a few visitors from the UK. We have built on the success of the last 2 years and planned a great time for all. Remember there is no cost to attend and enjoy the activities and some great food.

I am very pleased that I have received permission from the Rover Sports Register (RSR) www.thersr.co.uk to officially consider this a sanctioned event! The RSR is the oldest of the Rover clubs and caters to all Rover models.

As always we have also received strong support from the Rover Car Club of Canada (RCCC) www.roverclub.ca. We all owe a lot to this club as they sponsor the Rovernet. I am a member of both and suggest you join as well.

Whether you own a Rover or not, whether your car is on or off the road, we want you to be a part of the festivities. So get those cars going, bleed those brakes, flush the gas tank, and get a fresh tow rope if you need. Push, pull or drive that car to Fitchburg on June 12th and you won’t regret it.

RoverDrive

I wanted to bring to your attention a great article titled "Roverdrive" recently printed in the 2008 issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car. David LaChance wrote a great article also featuring photographs of some fellow RoverPhiles, taken at RoveAmerica 08 last year.

Check out this link to read the article on "One of Britain's Fine Cars".

Want a new SS Exhaust?

Some time ago Steve Manwell and I started to discuss the idea of sourcing stainless steel exhausts from the UK for the many makes of Rover here in North America. Well, Steve has followed through and recently visited the UK exhaust manufacturer PD Gough.

When “S” was best

As many of you may know James Taylor is the undisputed Rover expert.

James has many Rover books to his credit. Several years ago he created an emagazine know as the “Rover Enthusiasts Magazine”. Unfortunately last month was the last issue for a while. I will personally miss this a great deal as it was always well written and well researched. However James has graciously allowed me to publish a few stories from the past issues for your reading pleasure.

“Under Restoration”

For those of you who attended last year and expected to see my infamous P5B you were disappointed and amazed at the series of events that had taken place a few weeks earlier.
