Mark asks:

Was the circular style introduced before the facelift ?

Answer;

Only on the Federal 3500S which was the first model to have the round gauges
and had them before the home market cars. Best of both worlds, I'd say.

Not a problem, I have only just eased those pages apart to realise that non
a/c was possible.

However, I am still confused. I ought to get James Taylor's book down from
the loft to check but my understanding was that the circular instruments
were introduced at the same time as the egg box grille and new bonnet etc.

Yet the Federal manual shows these instruments with the older silver grille
as does the car on eBay :

Was the circular style introduced before the facelift ?

Did the strip style speedo survive until the end of the range in 1975-ish ?

Glen,

You are most right, AC was an option. My apologies to
Mark Lavender.

Sundym glass was also an option. I dug my manual out
out and found options listed on page 34. It seems
curious to me that the NADA P6B would have standard
power operated yet non-tinted windows. That
combination would have to be a minority among the
world's marques, but perhaps not, at least at the time
period. Does anyone know what percentage of Federal
3500S's were like that?

I do not recall personally seeing a NADA P6B that did
not have AC and Sundym. A previous P6B had the
backlight toaster.
