[ROVERNET - UK] Gentlemen start rebuilding your engines

Ok, so you will never hear those words uttered at the Indy 500 BUT for a
2007 Rover event you better get started on that Rover project to be done in
time.

I have to admit that I got a little distracted since I last raised the
possibility of a gathering but a call from Kent and a kick in the butt from
has got me back on track.

I am now serious and want to nail down a 2007 event schedule for the Rover
car event of century. Yes, I am hyping it and it may only end up being a few
cars but it sounded good when I thought it up.

So in our last episode I raised the possibility of hosting a Rover meeting
here in the northeast. I am now looking for event dates and to attract Rover
nuts far and wide.

As before I am willing to do whatever I can to assist in getting together as
many Rover fanatics that will not let the marquee rest and have a weekend of
fun and genuine camaraderie. I would like to make this as much as possible a
family event and would like kids, wives, ex wives/ ex husbands as well as
past, present and future Rover fans to come and enjoy. So if you can spell
Rover or even if you can't your invited!

I hope to provide the following:

A nice location for the event

Food for some of the event (Count on the best BBQ you have ever had and a
great New England breakfast)!!!!

Discounts for hotels in the area

Logistics and transportation to and from an airport, if an attendee is not
bringing a car. It would be great to host and assist Canadian, Australian,
New Zeeland and UK enthusiasts if possible and anywhere else a Rover is or
has been (OK wishful thinking)

Original Rover movie night

Afternoon tea event

Discounted car transportation if you would like to have your car transported
to and from the event

More if I can think of it or you can suggest it??

So what I need from everyone who is interested is ideas. WHAT DO you want
for this event? When do you want this event? I was thinking May 2007 but I
am open on this.

Car contest? Rover ball? What else can you think of?

So these are my musings for a 2007 Rover event what do you think?

Dirk

Just had George and George come for a quick visit from Vancouver Island to
Grants Pass. The trunk was loaded with rebuilt hydraulics and a gear box
from Ruth at ABC up there. Best thing I have found on this list was a
reference to her when I first started in on my 67 TC. She has saved me more
time and agony and I just wanted to say thanks once again. They mentioned a

Rover get together in June somewhere near the Frazer Valley and I was
wondering when and where that was going happen. Thanks again Ruth!!

Here, here!

I can't say how helpful Ruth has been since I've become 'with Rover'. Great
advice and great to chat with!

Regards,

Steven Dibdin

Ted,
Ruth will be thrilled to read the comments of you and
Steve.

I will reply privately with respect to the Rove to
Lytton. We don't want the "Hoi-poloi" to show up :-)

Hoi-poloi is it now? That's a new term for Texan is
it? But I'll second the motion as far as Ruth is
concerned. She just sent me the last bits to get a P4
and a P6 on the road.
