Just a caution, here:
The plate at the back of the final drive is fixed to
the drive by about three bolts.  When new, my
understanding is that the plate was flat.  The bolts
have a head such that when the bolts are tightened
they bend the metal slightly and form a shake-proof
fastening.  If you plan on removing the plate, you
might consider a few taps to slightly straighten the
depressions, caused by the bolts, and regain your
shake-proof security.
