Steve,
I stick wooden chopsticks (or wooden golf tees) down
the holes in the brake fluid reservoir.  It reduces
the leak of liquid out your open pipes.  You will
still have to bleed the system after your rebuild
."Safety First"  "If you can't stop - don't start".
