[ROVERNET - UK] RE: rovernet Digest, Vol 42, Issue 42

Hi Ben,

Well I can only speak for my family but when I decided to let my kids be
involved it became a family thing. My 15 year old (now 16 last week) son
watches this list more then I do. He got his 3500s a few months back on EBay
and is working on it regularly with plans to have it going this summer. In
fact his birthday present was a set of tires for it.

My (2) 8 year old boys I gave both a TC and while it will be awhile before
they can do much they are watching their brother and having great fun and
asking lots of questions. I did not think you could find that many questions
to ask about a spotweld.

So if we care about the Rover legacy then we should invite the young to
share our enthusiasm for it.

By the way we are considering a vacation this year in PEI maybe we can stop
by and see you

Have a great weekend
Dirk

Hi Steve
How about a surplus Rover parts thread in US which includes
Canada!!! I have a barn full of bits and pieces almost all Rover! Prices
are good too, most of the parts I would gladly donate free.
There are a lot of Rovers in and around Atlantic Canada, here on PEI I know
of three TC's one SC and my P5 plus a few Land Rovers. In Newfoundland its
possible to spot a Land Rover in many a back yard, and even cars are often
seen. New Brunswick likewise has quite a few Rovers, one is a 1938 P2 12HP,
but its too pricey $10,000 and its been off the road for at least twenty
years! Nova Scotia has a L/Rover club and there are a few cars that I'm
aware of.
Nevertheless, I sometimes wonder if we are a dying breed?? how many new and
young Rover enthusiast are joining our ranks these days??????
                      Regards Ben.

Edward Budd must have rolled over in his grave! I've seen the Krupp

Thyssen Steel or United Steel Works, I think.

I have just been told by Classic badges that that do not have any stock of
these badges and as they do not own the tooling they will not be
remanufacturing them. Shame, because as time goes on they will become very
desirable.

Hi Ray,
Classic Badges (UK) lists these as "currently out of
stock," so I don't know if they intend to reproduce more
or not. Their last price was about 32 pounds sterling.
Pierre might have one as he seems to have stuff that no
one else has. Yes, they are very costly. I have one that
I bought eight years ago at BD&G in London, but I am
saving it for my 2200TC if I ever get an engine for it.

Roverly,
Kent K.
