You actually get less wear on the valve train setting them tighter rather than looser.  Evidence of that is my SC; dropped a valve seat in Sept when it was stopped for 5 minutes.  On restart it sounded Terrible, imminent destructio.  It ran terribly.  When I pulled the head off, the valve & seat were sitting 4mm low.  As a result the cam Hit the bucket rather than sliding on it.

Kent, my P5 is pretty noisy compared to the whisper
quiet P4 I had. The P4 actually ran like a watch. My
P5 has alot of valve clatter as I set them pretty
loose. Doesn't run as smooth as the P4 either.
