Hi all,

All the talk about P4 and P5 servos has got me thinking about my
tobacco-brown 3500S. As so often happens when one has too many cars, it
has been laid up for several years now because of a probably minor problem
I just haven't got around to fixing. Some time ago I rebuilt the remote
servo, and it worked fine for a short while but then started to go flaky
at dangerous times. Intermittently the brake pedal would go rock hard and
not seem to do anything. Pumping the brakes several times would usually
unstick whatever was stuck and the car would stop. But the last time it
happened I was close to pedestrians, and after I recovered from my heart
attack I turned the car around, drove it home, and it hasn't moved since.

Here on Rovernet there has been much discussion of just these kinds of
symptoms on P6B's, and it seems clear to me that these P6B remote servos
are just fundamentally dangerous as they get old. At this point, I would
feel more secure replacing it with something different, instead of just
rebuilding the old piece of crap yet again. Does anyone out there know of
more reliable components that can replace the originals?

Thanks,

Geoff
