[ROVERNET - UK] 3500s rear calipers

Hmmmm..... I bought two of those later switches for
each of my 2 Rovers. There was a period in North
American automotive history where it was illegal to
have anything but a floor mounted headlight dip
switch. Somewhere along, the European authorities
became more enlightened and permitted column mounted
dip switches.

The Rover 2000s that came into North American up to
1971 didn't have the column mounted dip switch.

When I did my first restoration, Ruth provided the
first column mounted dip switch. It had the same
"bullet" Lucas connectors as elsewhere on the car.
The wire colours were the same. I noticed that Rover
provided a short cableform from the column (that's the
older headlight flasher) to the floor dipswitch. All
I had to do was remove the floor dipswitch and its
cableform, and install the new column dip switch in
place of the flash switch. I then connected the
switch wires up to the same-coloured wires coming out
of the loom and "Presto" I had a column mounted
dipswitch AND flash switch.

The next restoration required a bit more fettling as
the column mounted dipswitch now had a plug block
which I had to cut using a box cutter. Luckily, the
exposed plugs were an exact fit into Lucar connectors
and the 2 sockets also accepted the Lucas bullet
connectors.

Perhaps Pierre has a column mounted dipswitch in stock
:-)
