Damien,
    I can offer empathy as I've been driving Volvo Turbos for a long time, 
1985, now 1991; but I'm an incompetant trouble shooter.  I'd suggest joining 
the Volvo Club of America and getting into their "Brickyard" discussions.
    Small shops with years of experience save me both in Central New York 
and Melbourne, Florida, but even they met their match on the last turbo I 
had when it came to a mysterious stalling-while-driving problem.
    Last time I went to a dealer with a problem they said, "you know we 
can't even trouble shoot your car for what its worth"
