If you have an SD1 front cover on your engine then you should be able to =
get
both the gasket and seal from a Land Rover specialist or probably even =
the
general parts trade - I'm not aware of any *significant* differences in =
the
timing cover area from the arrival of the SD1 until the serpentine belt =
set
up came along in about 1995. SD1 engines should have a rubber seal with =
a
lip in place of the old twisted string affair fitted to the P6 version.

Later SD1s had engines made on L-R lines - BL handed over V-8 =
development to
Land Rover in the eighties as Land Rover were using more of them than =
the
saloon car=20

I have the cover off now, it needed firm persuasion.
Is the seal special at all? Or can I get one from Bearing Services?
Where can I get a timing cover gasket? (in Australia, I know Pierre will
have them if I can't get it here)
