Hello All,

You should have received a email invitation from me or my wife Lysiane
regarding the RoveAmerica 08 event.
If you did not receive a email or would like me to resend it to you please
email me directly at either this email address or cars at roveramerica.com. You
can also go to www.RoverAmerica.com and sign up online at the site.

This is a completely FREE event with good food and awards etc. So I am
trying to get a accurate count of all who will attend. If you could do this
within the next week or so sooner if you can it would be a great help.

Thanks and I hope to see you at RoveAmerica 08

Dirk Burrowes

On the TC I just look at the dashpots (without the air filter...).
You can compare them quite easily, I think it is more accurate than
listening.

Yes, that's my experience.
With 94 octane, my setting is in the 3 to 4 range.

You may be right, but in my limited experience (since 1958) I have had great
success with a piece of hose when a Unisyn is not available. This was the
tried and true method, before any of the later innovations. I never did like
those kits with the wires sticking out of the top of the carb. I highly
recommend the Unisyn, as you are measuring air flow not a physical height
element, when I hold my tech sessions for our Club T-MG group, but also
demonstrate the hose method. Surprisingly accurate!

Hi Everybody,
Picking up this thread. I ordered a couple of Buick pumps (TRW
FP1448/GMB 130-1070/Airtex AW1018) from the US. There are some minor
differences between them and the Rover SD1 pump.

Trivial one:
The small inlet branch which connects to the pipe under the manifold is
a little longer.

Slightly more annoying:
Two of the timing cover bolt positions have a thinner casting requiring
slightly shorter bolts. Not hard, new bolts cost me $1.50 each.

I'm having more trouble getting a pulling that matches. The platform
height is not too far from the one where the SD1 pulley mounts. This
means a pulley needs a similar offset. So far all the Ford pulleys have
deep offsets. Going to check out the holden ones this afternoon.

With the viscous coupling off the SD1 pump I noticed a little hole in
shaft. Looks like it's there to let the air out when the SD1 nose is
pushed on the pump shaft. I'm speculating I might be able to remove the
nose an fit it to the Buick pump. Anyone tried doing this?

Thanks to all for the replies! I'll let you know if there are any
updates to availability when I get to the parts store.

All the recent posts about the blue and white TCs have me wondering if
anyone knows the paint codes for the two colors, and of a decet supplier of
appropriate paint in the U.S. Please let me know. Thanks, Gordon.

This is not correct as a Rover color; but one of the best looking ivory
colors is old Ford Wimbledon White. it is the same as Old English White #2,
used on 60's Jaguars. the advantage of this color is it is available in
Dupont Imron, as well as others, so you can paint under bonnet, trunk, door

jambs in Imron, the outside in the type you choose. Imron wears like iron
has good gloss but no depth. I painted my MKII Jag in that color. I have
not bought any for 10 years, but assume it is readily available, and is
cheaper than other colors. it used to even be available in pre-mixed factory

cans. This color actually looks better than refrigerator whites; but may not

be show correct.James Dean

Hi James,

Dupont has unfortunately discontinued Imron, or at least it is no
longer readily available, due to environmental regulations. I used it
a few years ago, and was told I was purchasing the last gallon
available. They may have a replacement, or regs may possibly vary from
place to place, but here in MA we can no longer acquire it.
