It was a pretty well known piece of styling trickery back then - it made the
car look longer and lower. I don't think I would add it to a car that came
without it, but it's part of the original period Rover flavour so it's
staying

Ok....I cant stand it any longer. I have to throw my 2
cents worth in this mix.

I HATE the black paint on the lower siles. It looks so
like you are covering up what you will know eventually
will happen, it will rot off.
